Plea to the First Minister: Stealth withdrawal of Insch War Memorial Hospital in-patient beds and associated services – failure of due process, inequity, and risks to patient safety in rural Aberdeenshire

We have, on 19th March, written to the Scottish First Minister to raise serious concerns regarding the ongoing closure of in-patient beds and services at Insch War Memorial Hospital, and the proposal to declare the building surplus to requirements.

The letter highlights concerns around a lack of due process, limited community engagement, and the impact on patient care and local services in a rural area. It also calls for a pause on any plans for disposal until a full and transparent assessment of the service changes is carried out.
